The Sun-Room!

Stopped by the house today to lay out some paint swatches around the house and thought that I'd take a few more pictures. Here's a shot from the front (and my little buggy back there up the drive that's going to be a pain in the butt in the winter when it's covered in ice by the way!).

Below, you can see the sun-room from the back courtyard. I can't wait to fill it with plants. I'm definitely thinking lots of basil and rosemary. That will smell excellent! Also, remember all of the cement that I said was covered with dirt and grass that I spent a day digging out? It's all of those down there outside the sun-room windows and patio area. I'm really looking forward to seeing it all done!

On the brighter side:

That's the little brown house there hiding behind that blossoming yellow bush. There is that bush and the tree out front that just started blooming! They're beautiful. I'm not exactly sure what the name of either is but I'm sure someone knows and will tell me!

The tree is almost like a pink "tulip tree".

Blustery day!

Well, Al (the owner of the house) and I were working on uncovering the ground from all of that overgrown dead brush. Seriously, you couldn't even see the ground! Well, he got the bright idea that we should try to burn a little area of it to see what happens. I swear, I advised against it since it was so seriously windy out, and the house has no water or electric run to it yet.

What do you know, a big gust of wind blew by and WHOOSH, the whole yard went up in flames. Al ran to grab a (very long) hose to put it out and by the time he got back it had actually spread past the back fence! Luckily, he had more than one hose that we could connect together to reach from his house to put the damn fire out!

To be perfectly honest though, now that the yard is burnt to a crisp that saved me about five more hours of work! Score! (Thanks Al!)

And in the beginning...

Okay, so we're going to be moving soon. The house has so much potential and is going to need a lot of work. First off, there is a complete fenced in back courtyard that hasn't been touched in four years. Actually, the whole house hasn't been lived in for that time either.
I'm excited about the whole prospect because I'm getting to completely redesign the landscape of the courtyard to however I'd like, and I also get to pick out all of the paint colors for the house.
Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures before I started working, but I'll put up an "artist rendition" of what it was before, and I'm going to be updating with progress on the house and the courtyard.

Here is my "artist rendition" photoshopped one of the pictures that I did take after two whole days of work. This is actually not anywhere near as bad as it was. Every concrete piece of patio area was covered completely. Some less, than others, but there was a large area near the windows to the sun room that had a layer of dirt, and grass growing over it. One afternoon was spent completely digging that up! (fun..)

Here above is after two days of shoveling, pulling weeds, killing little worms ( poor things ), and using a hack-saw to cut down weeds that had grown into trees and bushes! Finally got almost all of the patio areas cleared off, and all of that crap pulled out! It's rewarding to see so much progress after only a couple days' work.
